Busy!

This post is random….

It’s funny, I’ve never really been a busy person. I prefer to be at home, watching TV, or cleaning, or just hanging out! Lately I find myself very busy though! It’s a strange feeling, but I kind of like it! I’ve always been pretty crafty, but lately my crafty side has been fighting to emerge! My mom bought me a new sewing machine for my birthday (I know…. a little early) and I am so excited to learn how to use it!!! I plan to make a T-Shirt quilt with all of my college T-shirts! I signed up for a class next Thursday at a local Austin sewing shop. They will teach me all about how to use my machine, and I am so excited!

I also signed up for a Photography class at UT that starts in March. It is once a week for 2 hours on Wednesday nights, I am so looking forward to a professional teaching me how to use my camera! The class is about 20 people, and it said that we go on field trips, I guess to take pictures and such! My sister in law Cate and I are in the beginning stages of starting our own photography business here in Austin! I want to do family, babies,  and maternity pics, and she wants to do events and weddings!

My best friend Ashley is getting married in May, so I have been helping out here and there with wedding preparations! We are having a shower for her in March, and I volunteered to do the invites… and then I got the bright idea to save money and MAKE them all!! They are adorable, but are going to take a long time! I better get on it!

I really want to be on the volunteer committee for Relay for Life here in Austin. I have been waiting for a lady at ACS to call me back to get me signed up, but I guess they are really busy because I haven’t heard back from her. Hopefully soon though!

This weekend Dave and I are having a little super bowl party gathering! It should be fun! We will be having Salt Lick BBQ (Dave’s fav) and I’m going to make some hors d'oeuvres. This means Saturday will be devoted to some deep cleaning!

Well, that in a nut shell is my life these days… busier then normal for sure! But I am enjoying getting into photography, and learning to sew! I really want things to be excited about in life, and those are things that i have a passion for! I have decided that no matter what my occupation is, I’m never going to get he fulfillment out of it that I need, so having these other things in my life will be really great!

My Amazing Mom!

This past weekend, my mom was honored at the Family Time Hearts of Gold Gala. She was honored with the Medical Family Time Woman of the year award, and we are SOO proud of her!!! She is so amazing, and is not only the most amazing mom in the world, but nurse, caregiver and friend! She was nominated for this award by Skip and Malinn. My mom has done so many amazing things for so many people, it just blows me away! The way she listens, helps, and guides her patients who are dealing with such a terrifying disease is just incredible. God truly blessed her with a gift for helping others through their struggle with cancer.

Fiesta Bowl Victory!

We’re back from Arizona! It was a wonderful trip, and I am so glad it ended with a WIN by the Longhorns! The game was definitely nerve racking… I left Austin with 10 very long and pretty painted nails, and by the time the game was over they looked like they had been caught in some kind of machine! But it was so worth it, I love a good game! I had made a peace with it all when OSU looked like they had it in the bag. I was preparing myself for the LONG flight home… and the disappointment, but the preparation was not needed.

I took TONS of pictures while there. We had a chance to visit Dave’s brother Carl in Chandler AZ the first night. On Sunday we had planned to do some sight seeing in the mountains, but it rained!! It never rains in AZ, but it did while we were there! We went to a national park anyways and drove through the mountains in the rain, it was still beautiful! I was amazed at all of the cacti… it’s so weird that they grow so tall and are EVERYWHERE!

Our hotel was amazing and SOO relaxing. It was literally right next to the stadium, so we barely needed the rental car because we walked everywhere. There was a new shopping center right next to the hotel, which had a Margaritaville, a Fox Sports Grill, more restaurants and lots of little shops! It was fun to see all of the Longhorn fans (and the OSU fans) walking around out there!

We ended up going back to the national park mountain range on Tuesday, because the weather was beautiful and our flight didn’t leave until 3:30pm. So it was nice to do some sight seeing in the sun! But the sun in AZ is definitely brutal! I was having a hard time getting the settings on my camera right with all of the sun light, but I got some good ones!

It was so hard going back to work today, after a week of vacation!!! It was definitely needed. I will post pictures this weekend once I get all 500 (!!!!!!) of them loaded (from 2 different camera… I have my pocket digital for the game, I'm to afraid to take the SLR into the stadium, it might get ruined! and my SLR from the sight seeing, and other adventures!)

Happy Thursday! (2 day work weeks rock!)
