My metabolism hates me

Getting older, getting larger…. that seems to be happening to me as of late… At first I refused to go up a size in clothes, because I was determined to wear the same high school/college sizes I have been wearing for forever. But lets face it, not going to happen!!! Dave and I eat dinner together every evening, but it’s not always home cooked, we order our fair share of delivery and take out. So last week I decided I would try something new, Weight Watchers. It’s not that I think I am really fat, I just feel unhealthy and I know I could stand to lose a few lbs. Well, I learned something about myself last Tuesday, WW is not for me, after feeling like I was STARVING all day long, I devoured half of the Taco Bell menu for dinner that night.

Now I have decided that I need to stop being lazy and work out regularly, not only for my physical well being but for my cholesterol, and future health benefits! I never seem to be able to stick to a gym routine, laziness keeps me from getting there. I like to run, I am no good at it, but when I work hard I can do 3 miles easily. I also have been known to set goals for half marathons, and quit about 2 weeks into trainings… WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! So this time, I decided I will just run, without a goal, just get outside and run at LEAST 3 or 4 times a week. To entice myself, I headed to sports authority to get some new running gear, a few new sleeveless tops for the heat, and more shorts. I also purchased a heart rate monitor online that I am really excited about! I need to learn more about how exactly to use it… Here it is, its pretty much the cutest thing I could find!

So, why am I sharing this information with the internet? I need to be held accountable… I wish I had a running partner, but no one else likes to run :( Anyone want to be internet running partners~? :)

Hola Blogosphere!

Oh, how I have neglected the Crazy Lady blog lately… my apologies. I really have no excuse, except the IT man was fixing something on my work computer and un-installed my live writer! I was to lazy to re-install it until now! And here I am!

Not to much new going on around the Austin area- I had to have a SECOND root canal on the same tooth today… don’t even get me started about that one, at least they didn’t make me pay for it! I may, or may not leave work early… go home and watch Jon and Kate, and sleep… or I may just sit here at work and blog! Yesterday I had to have an ECHO done, so I’m pretty much falling apart! HA! I was the ONLY young person in the waiting room, it was quite awkward! I seem to find myself in these situations more and more lately!

In other news: My 3 year old niece Ellie has her tonsils and adenoids removed last week. She is SUCH a trooper! I am so proud of her. She was so calm and such a big girl! She had to spend the night after her surgery, and I got to spend a few hours with her that evening. We just played and played! He little voice was so squeaky! It was adorable! She seems to be doing well now, she can’t go back to preschool until next week, when she will be fully recovered, but praise God for a successful surgery!

Ashley’s wedding is nearing…and I have about 250 bows to tie on little bubbles tonight, yeeehaw! Better get on that one! I also need to get my crooked dress fixed, not sure what happened at the seamstress, but when I tried it on again, one side is about 3 inches longer then the other! Not the cutest look, but I guess it could be worse, hopefully the lady can fix it in time. I also need to write a speech… I really didn’t even think about this part until I was reading over Ashley’s notes for the DJ, which said Speeches: Elizabeth Roberts and April South….. DU DU DUHHHHHH……. ADVICE? hmmm didn’t think so…We had Ashley’s bachelorette party in Austin on May 2, that was fun!!! It reminded me why I don’t party anymore… I was in bed pretty much the entire next day! But, good times had by all!

I’ve gotten back into the swing of sewing again! I hemmed some pants the other day, and have a dress that needs about 4 inches cut off the bottom! Love being a shorty… I need to post some pictures of my t-shirt quilt! I also should probably finish it too. All I have left is the trim around the edges, which I think is the hardest part! So I have been putting it off, I also need to purchase the fabric for it too, I am looking for a dark brown that matches one of the polka dots, but I haven’t found what I am looking for yet…

Well that's all the randomness I have for the moment, I think I will head home and soak up some sympathy attention from the man : )

Busy!

This post is random….

It’s funny, I’ve never really been a busy person. I prefer to be at home, watching TV, or cleaning, or just hanging out! Lately I find myself very busy though! It’s a strange feeling, but I kind of like it! I’ve always been pretty crafty, but lately my crafty side has been fighting to emerge! My mom bought me a new sewing machine for my birthday (I know…. a little early) and I am so excited to learn how to use it!!! I plan to make a T-Shirt quilt with all of my college T-shirts! I signed up for a class next Thursday at a local Austin sewing shop. They will teach me all about how to use my machine, and I am so excited!

I also signed up for a Photography class at UT that starts in March. It is once a week for 2 hours on Wednesday nights, I am so looking forward to a professional teaching me how to use my camera! The class is about 20 people, and it said that we go on field trips, I guess to take pictures and such! My sister in law Cate and I are in the beginning stages of starting our own photography business here in Austin! I want to do family, babies,  and maternity pics, and she wants to do events and weddings!

My best friend Ashley is getting married in May, so I have been helping out here and there with wedding preparations! We are having a shower for her in March, and I volunteered to do the invites… and then I got the bright idea to save money and MAKE them all!! They are adorable, but are going to take a long time! I better get on it!

I really want to be on the volunteer committee for Relay for Life here in Austin. I have been waiting for a lady at ACS to call me back to get me signed up, but I guess they are really busy because I haven’t heard back from her. Hopefully soon though!

This weekend Dave and I are having a little super bowl party gathering! It should be fun! We will be having Salt Lick BBQ (Dave’s fav) and I’m going to make some hors d'oeuvres. This means Saturday will be devoted to some deep cleaning!

Well, that in a nut shell is my life these days… busier then normal for sure! But I am enjoying getting into photography, and learning to sew! I really want things to be excited about in life, and those are things that i have a passion for! I have decided that no matter what my occupation is, I’m never going to get he fulfillment out of it that I need, so having these other things in my life will be really great!

My Amazing Mom!

This past weekend, my mom was honored at the Family Time Hearts of Gold Gala. She was honored with the Medical Family Time Woman of the year award, and we are SOO proud of her!!! She is so amazing, and is not only the most amazing mom in the world, but nurse, caregiver and friend! She was nominated for this award by Skip and Malinn. My mom has done so many amazing things for so many people, it just blows me away! The way she listens, helps, and guides her patients who are dealing with such a terrifying disease is just incredible. God truly blessed her with a gift for helping others through their struggle with cancer.

Fiesta Bowl Victory!

We’re back from Arizona! It was a wonderful trip, and I am so glad it ended with a WIN by the Longhorns! The game was definitely nerve racking… I left Austin with 10 very long and pretty painted nails, and by the time the game was over they looked like they had been caught in some kind of machine! But it was so worth it, I love a good game! I had made a peace with it all when OSU looked like they had it in the bag. I was preparing myself for the LONG flight home… and the disappointment, but the preparation was not needed.

I took TONS of pictures while there. We had a chance to visit Dave’s brother Carl in Chandler AZ the first night. On Sunday we had planned to do some sight seeing in the mountains, but it rained!! It never rains in AZ, but it did while we were there! We went to a national park anyways and drove through the mountains in the rain, it was still beautiful! I was amazed at all of the cacti… it’s so weird that they grow so tall and are EVERYWHERE!

Our hotel was amazing and SOO relaxing. It was literally right next to the stadium, so we barely needed the rental car because we walked everywhere. There was a new shopping center right next to the hotel, which had a Margaritaville, a Fox Sports Grill, more restaurants and lots of little shops! It was fun to see all of the Longhorn fans (and the OSU fans) walking around out there!

We ended up going back to the national park mountain range on Tuesday, because the weather was beautiful and our flight didn’t leave until 3:30pm. So it was nice to do some sight seeing in the sun! But the sun in AZ is definitely brutal! I was having a hard time getting the settings on my camera right with all of the sun light, but I got some good ones!

It was so hard going back to work today, after a week of vacation!!! It was definitely needed. I will post pictures this weekend once I get all 500 (!!!!!!) of them loaded (from 2 different camera… I have my pocket digital for the game, I'm to afraid to take the SLR into the stadium, it might get ruined! and my SLR from the sight seeing, and other adventures!)

Happy Thursday! (2 day work weeks rock!)

I just thought this picture was really cool, Elle had a fairy net from her costume over her head, but it kind of looks like a veil!

Merry Christmas! … a little late

I’m so sad it’s already over!!! Christmas was great this year, Dave and I had our Christmas together on Sunday morning the 21, since we would both be going home to our parents that week. Dave surprised me with the most amazing gift…. a Nikkor (Nikon) 70-300mm lens for my D60!!!! I had NO idea… I thought it would be a few YEARS before I could graduate/afford to a professional lens like that, but I LOVE IT and got a lot of use out of it over Christmas! (More pics to come soon).

I went home to Kingwood on Christmas Eve. It was a quiet Christmas day for our family again this year, as it was just my mom, Skip, and I on Christmas morning! That afternoon we shared a special Christmas lunch with our awesome neighbors Melissa and Erik (and Melissa's parents from Ohio). Melissa made an AMAZING spread, including tons of appetizers, personal shrimp cocktails in crystal glasses (I was so impressed!!!) and fabulous prime rib!!! Melissa planned the entire lunch out, even decorating the table with place cards, ornaments, presents… it was beautiful!

My brother, sister in law, and Ellie came to Kingwood on Friday to stay with us for the weekend, we had so much fun! Ellie is at such a fun age, she talks ALL the time, and can recite her Disney movies for you… its hilarious! Plus she allowed me to photograph her all weekend! Having my new lens, and learning a lot about my camera from my sister in law made me so excited about having my own photography business one day! I still have a lot to learn, but I am SO excited! I plan to start building my portfolio over the next year, and maybe acquiring a copy of Photoshop so I can become savvy with that as well!

Having a few days away from the office was so nice, it was very hard to get back into the swing of things today. (Hence, why I am blogging while I should be working : ) ) Especially since I have another mini vacay coming up. Dave and I fly out to Phoenix on Saturday morning for the Fiesta bowl! We will be gone until Tuesday, but I am so excited to get away for a few days! We may drive up to the Grand Canyon one day, or Sedona, we’re not sure yet. I’m a little apprehensive about the plane ride… so if you get around to it, say a little prayer for me on Saturday morning : )

Hope to get all my pics off the camera today! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!!
